Graeme Base
Graeme Base is an Australian author and illustrator of children's picture books, born in Amersham, England, in 1958, and moved to Australia with his family in 1966.[1][5] After studying graphic design at Swinburne Technical College in Melbourne, he worked briefly in advertising before transitioning to illustrating and writing his own books, with his first picture book *My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch* published in 1983 and the bestselling *Animalia* in 1986.[1][3] He resides in Melbourne with his wife and three children and has received numerous awards for works like *The Eleventh Hour* and *Uno's Garden*.[1][2][4]
