Graciela Ascarrunz De Gilman
Graciela Ascarrunz Gilman was a Bolivian-born academic who immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s and settled in California in the early 1970s. She earned her Ph.D. in Spanish from UC Davis in 1978, served as assistant coordinator of the Spanish lower division program at UC Berkeley in 1976, and from 1984 until her death in 1996 directed the lower division program at UC Santa Barbara's Department of Spanish and Portuguese as Senior Lecturer. She co-authored Spanish language textbooks including Horizontes: Cultura y literatura and Aventura!
