Gilbert Rouget

Gilbert Rouget was a French ethnomusicologist and cultural anthropologist known for his research on African music, especially in Benin, and on the relationships between music, trance, and possession. He worked at the Musée de l’Homme and the CNRS, where he became an influential figure in ethnomusicology.[2][5]
