Gerhard Neuweiler
Gerhard Neuweiler (1935-2008) was a German zoologist and university politician renowned for his pioneering work in bat biology, integrating neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, behavioral ecology, and psychophysics. He studied natural sciences at the Universities of Tübingen and Munich, earning his PhD in 1962 on the physiology of vision in fruit bats under Franz Peter Möhres. From 1972 to 1980, he chaired the Department of Zoology at LMU Munich and authored influential works like 'The Biology of Bats' (2000).
