Geraldine Brooks
Australian-born Geraldine Brooks is an acclaimed author and journalist who grew up in Sydney's western suburbs, graduated from the University of Sydney, and earned an MS in journalism from Columbia University in 1983.[1][4][6] She worked as a reporter for The Sydney Morning Herald and later as a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, covering conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and the Balkans, before transitioning to writing bestselling historical novels like Year of Wonders and People of the Book.[2][3][5] Brooks won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2006 for March and was named an Officer in the Order of Australia in 2016.[1][3][6]
