George McGhee Jr.

George R. McGhee Jr. (1951-2023) was a distinguished paleontologist and professor at Rutgers University, where he taught for 42 years, specializing in evolutionary theory, convergent evolution, and mass extinctions.[1][4] He authored seven research books, including 'Convergent Evolution: Limited Forms Most Beautiful' and 'The Geometry of Evolution,' published by Cambridge University Press.[1][5] A Quaker and Vietnam War conscientious objector, he earned his B.S. from North Carolina State University, M.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill, and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.[1]
