George Johnston
George Henry Johnston (1912-1970) was an Australian journalist, war correspondent, and novelist best known for his semi-autobiographical trilogy consisting of My Brother Jack, Clean Straw for Nothing, and A Cartload of Clay. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and war correspondent during World War II, traveling extensively across regions including New Guinea, China, and Burma before transitioning to fiction writing. Johnston was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1970 for his contributions to literature.
