George Gately

George Gately Gallagher (1928-2001) was an American cartoonist best known as the creator of the Heathcliff comic strip. Born in Queens, New York, he began his career in advertising before transitioning to comic strips, achieving his first major success with 'Hapless Harry' before creating the iconic orange cat character Heathcliff, which became an international sensation spanning over fifty books, eighty television shows, and a motion picture.
