George Egerton
George Egerton, born Mary Chavelita Dunne Bright in 1859, was a pioneering Anglo-Australian writer and feminist known for her psychological depth and innovative narrative techniques in the New Woman movement. She authored short story collections, novels, plays, and translations, becoming a central figure in late 19th-century literary modernism and the Decadent movement. Egerton was a close friend of George Bernard Shaw, Ellen Terry, and J.M. Barrie, and her work championed women's freedom, including sexual autonomy.
