George Aaron Barton

George Aaron Barton (1859-1942) was a Canadian-born American scholar, author, Episcopal clergyman, and professor of Semitic languages and the history of religion. He taught at institutions including Haverford College, Bryn Mawr College, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he served from 1922 to 1931 and later as Professor Emeritus. Renowned for his works on biblical studies, archaeology, and Semitic languages, he also directed the American School of Oriental Research in Baghdad from 1921 to 1934.
