George A Akerlof

George A. Akerlof is an American economist and Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences (2001), renowned for his groundbreaking theory on markets with asymmetric information, particularly illustrated by his 'Market for Lemons' paper. He is a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, and a University Professor at Georgetown University, where he has also contributed significantly to the development of behavioral economics. Akerlof is married to former U.S. Federal Reserve Chair and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
