Georg Von Bekesy

Georg von Békésy was a Hungarian-American biophysicist and physiologist who won the 1961 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his groundbreaking research on the physical mechanism of sound stimulation in the cochlea. Born in Budapest, he later moved to the United States, where he continued his scientific work until his death in Honolulu in 1972. His findings fundamentally advanced the understanding of mammalian hearing.
