Georg Brandes
Georg Brandes was a Danish critic and scholar who profoundly influenced Scandinavian and European literature from the 1870s through the turn of the 20th century. He is widely regarded as the theorist behind the 'Modern Breakthrough' of Scandinavian culture and championed realism in literature and liberalism in politics. Brandes was also a prominent anti-religious polemicist who argued against the historicity of Jesus.
