Geographers' A-Z Map Company

The Geographers' A–Z Map Company Ltd. was established in London in August 1936 by Phyllis Pearsall (daughter of Alexander Gross) to publish comprehensive street maps, starting with the iconic London A-Z atlas after she walked 23,000 streets. It grew to become the largest independent map publisher in the UK, based in Kent, before being acquired by HarperCollins in 2019. The company is renowned for its detailed atlases, visitors' guides, and road maps, maintaining high standards through innovations like CAD in the 1990s.
