Gawain Poet

The Gawain Poet, also known as the Pearl Poet, is the anonymous late 14th-century author of the Middle English poems Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, Patience, and Cleanness. Nothing is known about the poet's identity, though stylistic and dialectal evidence suggests he was from the northwest Midlands of England. His works are celebrated for their sophisticated alliterative verse and rich religious and chivalric themes.
