Gary Krist
Gary Michael Krist (born 1957) is an American writer of fiction, nonfiction, travel journalism, and literary criticism. He authored novels such as Bad Chemistry, Chaos Theory, and Extravagance, along with short story collections The Garden State and Bone by Bone, before turning to acclaimed narrative nonfiction works including The White Cascade, City of Scoundrels, Empire of Sin, The Mirage Factory, and Trespassers at the Golden Gate. Krist has received awards like the Stephen Crane Award, Sue Kaufman Prize, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities.
