Garret Keizer
Garret Keizer is an American author, essayist, poet, and former high school English teacher and Episcopal clergyman, originally from Paterson, New Jersey, who has lived in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom for over 40 years. A contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine since 2001, he is the author of nine books, including the memoir 'No Place But Here' (1988), 'A Dresser of Sycamore Trees' (1991), 'Getting Schooled,' 'Privacy,' and his debut poetry collection 'The World Pushes Back,' as well as the forthcoming essay collection 'Starting From Paterson' (June 2026). He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006 and is praised as 'the finest essayist writing today' by Jeff Sharlet.
