G N Leech

Geoffrey N. Leech (1936–2014) was a prominent British linguist and founding professor of the English Linguistics department at Lancaster University, renowned for his pioneering work in corpus linguistics, pragmatics, and semantics. He co-authored the landmark 'Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English' and made significant contributions to the linguistic study of literature and the development of corpus-based grammar. His influential books on grammar and style remain widely used in linguistics curricula around the world.
