G. I. Gurdjieff
G. I. Gurdjieff was a Greco-Armenian philosopher, mystic, spiritual teacher, and composer who taught that most people live in a state of “waking sleep” and can awaken to higher consciousness through disciplined inner work. He became influential in the early 20th century through his teaching known as the “Fourth Way” and through the Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man in France.
