G. Burbidge
George Wheelock Burbidge (1847–1908) was a Canadian lawyer, judge, and author who, after being called to the bar in New Brunswick in 1872, served as federal Deputy Minister of Justice and became the first justice of the Exchequer Court in 1887. In his early years as a judge, he published *A Digest of the Criminal Law of Canada*, a seminal work that heavily influenced the Criminal Code of 1892. His legal scholarship bridged colonial law and modern Canadian jurisprudence.
