Fred Marchant
Fred Marchant is an American poet, Professor Emeritus of English at Suffolk University, and director of its Creative Writing program and Poetry Center. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, he graduated from Brown University and earned a PhD from the University of Chicago's Committee on Social Thought; in 1970, he became one of the first US Marine Corps officers honorably discharged as a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War.[1][2][4]
