Francisco Metzi

Francesco Melzi was an Italian painter and nobleman from a Milanese family in Lombardy, best known as Leonardo da Vinci's favored pupil and companion.[1][2] He joined Leonardo's workshop around 1506-1508, traveled with him to Rome and France, and remained until Leonardo's death in 1519, inheriting and preserving his notebooks, including compiling the Codex Urbinas.[1][3][5] After Leonardo's death, Melzi returned to Milan and continued his work as an artist in the High Renaissance style.[1][4]
