Francis Henry 1852-1936 Williams
Francis Henry Williams (1852-1936) was an American physician and pioneer in radiology, known as the 'Father of American Radiology.' He earned a chemistry degree from MIT in 1873 and an MD from Harvard in 1877, followed by studies in Europe, and became one of the first to apply X-rays to medicine, authoring 'The Roentgen Rays in Medicine and Surgery' in 1901. He advanced chest radiology by describing X-ray findings in tuberculosis, emphysema, and pleural effusions, and collaborated on early gastrointestinal fluoroscopy.
