Francis Bernard
Sir Francis Bernard (1712-1779) was a British colonial administrator who served as royal governor of New Jersey from 1758 and Massachusetts Bay from 1760 to 1769. His policies, including support for the Stamp Act, fueled colonial opposition leading to the American Revolution, resulting in his recall to England in 1769. There, he advised the British government on colonial affairs and published works on imperial policy.[1][2][4]
