Errol E Harris

Errol Eustace Harris (1908-2009) was a South African-American philosopher known for his work in metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of science, developing a systematic account integrating empirical science with the Western philosophical tradition. He served as John Evans Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Northwestern University, authored over 25 books including 'The Foundations of Metaphysics in Science' and 'Hypothesis and Perception,' and was a former president of the Metaphysical Society of America and the Hegel Society of America. His career as a scholar, teacher, and public intellectual spanned eight decades across North America, Britain, South Africa, and Europe.
