Emilie Loring
Emilie Baker Loring (1866-1951) was an American romance novelist born in Boston, Massachusetts, to playwright George M. Baker and homemaker Emily Frances Baker; she married lawyer Victor J. Loring and raised two sons. She began her writing career in her fifties, publishing her first novels under the pseudonym Josephine Story in 1914 and 1917, followed by over 30 romance novels under her own name starting in 1922, selling more than a million copies by her death. After her passing, her sons used her unfinished manuscripts to publish 20 additional books with ghostwriter Elinore Denniston.
