Elmore Leonard
Elmore John Leonard Jr. (1925–2013) was an acclaimed American novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter, renowned for his crime fiction and suspense thrillers after starting with Westerns in the 1950s. Known for his clean prose, realistic dialogue, effective violence, satiric wit, and colorful characters, many of his works were adapted into successful motion pictures. Dubbed 'the Dickens of Detroit,' he emphasized authentic writing by rewriting anything that 'sounded like writing.'
