Elmer Kelton
Elmer Kelton (1926-2009) was an acclaimed American author of over 40 Western novels, renowned for his authentic depictions of ranch life and Texas history, drawing from his upbringing on a family ranch and career as an agricultural journalist. His notable works include 'The Time It Never Rained' (1973), often considered his masterpiece, and 'The Good Old Boys' (1978), adapted into a TV movie starring Tommy Lee Jones. Kelton received numerous awards, including seven Spur Awards from the Western Writers of America and four Western Heritage Awards, and was voted the greatest Western writer of all time in 1995.
