Ella Lung Martinsen
Ella Lung Martinsen was the first white child born at Dominion Creek, near Dawson in Yukon Territory, and knew the Klondike Gold Rush country personally.[3] She authored 'Black Sand and Gold,' a true Alaska-Yukon gold-rush story based on the diaries of her father, Edward Burchall Lung, first published in 1954 by Vantage Press and later in a 1967 Alaska Centennial Edition.[1][2][4] She also wrote a sequel, 'Trail to North Star Gold,' published in 1969 by Metropolitan Press.[5]
