Elizabeth Shown Mills
Elizabeth Shown Mills is a leading historical researcher and genealogist recognized as 'the genealogist who has had the greatest impact on American genealogy in the post-Roots era.'[2] She has spent over forty years studying neglected Southern cultures, including Anglo-Celtic frontiersmen, French and Spanish Creoles, Native Americans, and the enslaved.[6] Mills pioneered advanced research methodology in genealogy education, served as editor of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly for sixteen years, and authored or edited 15 books and over 1,000 articles while delivering more than 1,000 lectures internationally.[4]
