Elizabeth Seifert

Elizabeth Seifert, born Bess Gasparotti, was an American novelist renowned for her over 80 novels centered on the medical profession, inspired by her early interest in medicine thwarted by health issues and family disapproval.[2][3] She won a $10,000 prize for her debut novel Young Doctor Halahad in 1938 at age 41 and continued publishing two books annually until illness slowed her in 1979, with her final novel Two Doctors, Two Lives appearing in 1982.[1][2] She graduated from Washington University, worked as a clinical secretary in a hospital, and died in Moberly, Missouri, recognized as one of the town's most famous women.[2][3]
