Elizabeth Peters
Elizabeth Peters was the pen name of Barbara Louise Mertz, an American author renowned for her historical mystery series featuring Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, as well as writing gothic thrillers under Barbara Michaels and nonfiction on ancient Egypt.[2][6] She earned a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Chicago in 1952 and authored over 70 novels during her career, blending archaeology, humor, and suspense.[3][1] Mertz was a feminist who founded Malice Domestic and received awards like Mystery Writers of America Grand Master in 1998.[1][6]
