Elizabeth Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a prominent Victorian poet renowned for her passionate love poetry, including the celebrated sequence 'Sonnets from the Portuguese,' and her advocacy for social reforms such as the abolition of slavery and child labor rights. Born into a wealthy family in Durham, England, she became one of the most influential female writers of the 19th century despite chronic health issues. She married fellow poet Robert Browning in 1846 and lived with him in Italy until her death in Florence in 1861.
