Elisabeth Elliot

Elisabeth Elliot (1926–2015) was an American Christian missionary, author, and speaker who gained prominence after her husband Jim Elliot was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Waorani people of Ecuador. Rather than leave, she stayed in the jungle to learn the Waorani language, live among the tribe that killed her husband, and continue missionary work, demonstrating Christian forgiveness. She went on to write over twenty books, including bestsellers like *Through Gates of Splendor* and *Shadow of the Almighty*, and became a widely sought-after speaker on topics including missions, faith, marriage, and biblical womanhood.
