Elie Wiesel
Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) was a Romanian-born American writer, professor, and Holocaust survivor who became a Nobel Peace Laureate in 1986. He authored 57 books, most notably his memoir 'Night,' which recounts his experiences as a Jewish prisoner at Auschwitz and Buchenwald during World War II. After the war, he became a prominent activist and educator, speaking out against persecution and injustice globally.
