Elaine N. Marieb was a renowned anatomist, educator, and philanthropist best known for authoring the seminal textbook *Human Anatomy & Physiology*, used in over 2,400 classrooms worldwide, and ranked seventh on Time magazine's 2016 list of most-read female authors in college classes. She earned multiple degrees including a PhD in zoology from UMass Amherst in 1969 and an MS in nursing with a gerontology specialization in 1985, taught at institutions like Springfield College and Holyoke Community College, and became an 'accidental author' after reviewing manuscripts in the 1970s. A generous donor, she supported scholarships at FGCU, UMass Amherst, and others, funding facilities like the Marieb College of Health & Human Services before her death in 2018.
