Elaine Gloria Gottschall
Elaine Gloria Gottschall (1921–2005) was a Canadian biochemist and cell biology researcher renowned for her pivotal work in gastrointestinal health, particularly as the author of 'Breaking the Vicious Cycle' and the founder of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). Born in Ontario, Canada, she developed the SCD in the 1920s as a treatment for celiac disease, which later became a foundational diet for conditions like IBD and GAPS.
