Elaine A. Rich
Elaine Alice Rich is an American computer scientist renowned for her influential textbooks on artificial intelligence and automata theory, as well as her research on user modeling. She served as a distinguished senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin until retiring in late 2016. Her thesis on building and exploiting user models from Carnegie Mellon University in 1979 laid foundational groundwork for personalizing information systems[1][2].
