Edward Richard Shaw

Edward Richard Shaw (1855–1903) was an American author, educator, and Dean at New York University, known for writing children's schoolbooks and editing works like 'Black Beauty' for young readers. He was born in Bellport, New York, and held academic positions at Sayville, Greenport, and Yonkers High Schools before becoming a Professor of Pedagogy at New York University.
