Edward Lear
Edward Lear (1812–1888) was an English artist, illustrator, musician, author, and poet renowned for his literary nonsense, particularly limericks which he popularized through works like 'A Book of Nonsense' (1846) and 'The Owl and the Pussy-Cat' (1871).[1][2][4] Beginning his career as a young illustrator of birds for the London Zoological Society, he later focused on landscape painting during extensive travels across Europe and Asia, while battling health issues including epilepsy and depression.[3][5][7] His nonsense verse often conveyed a whimsical melancholy, complemented by his engaging drawings.[4]
