Edward Everett Hale

Edward Everett Hale was an American Unitarian minister, author, and social reformer best known for his short story 'The Man Without a Country,' published in Atlantic Monthly in 1863 to support the Union during the Civil War. Born in Boston in 1822 and descended from Revolutionary War hero Nathan Hale, he served as chaplain of the United States Senate from 1903 until his death in 1909.
