Edward Everett 1822-1909 Hale

Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909) was an American author, historian, and Unitarian minister best known for his short story 'The Man Without a Country,' published in 1863 to inspire patriotism during the Civil War. He authored or edited over sixty books across fiction, travel, sermons, biography, and history, while actively engaging in social reforms including Irish famine relief, anti-slavery efforts, and founding the Lend a Hand Society. A grand-nephew of Nathan Hale, he served as a clergyman in Boston and contributed extensively to periodicals like the Atlantic Monthly.[1][2]
