Edna Buchanan
Edna Buchanan (née Rydzik) was a Pulitzer Prize-winning crime reporter for the Miami Herald, covering over 5,000 violent deaths including 3,000 homicides during her 18-year tenure from 1973 to 1988.[1][2][3] Born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1939, she began her career at the Miami Beach Sun in the 1960s before becoming one of America's most renowned crime journalists, later transitioning to writing mystery novels like Nobody Lives Forever and the Britt Montero series.[1][4][5] Known as the 'queen of crime,' she authored 18 books, including nonfiction memoirs such as The Corpse Had a Familiar Face.[3][5]
