Edith Piaf

Édith Piaf, born Édith Giovanna Gassion in Paris in 1915, was a legendary French singer and actress renowned for her expressive interpretations of the chanson, or French ballad, which made her internationally famous[2]. She rose to stardom in the late 1930s as a symbol of French passion and wrote the lyrics to her signature song, 'La Vie en rose,' in 1945[1][3]. Piaf died from liver failure at age 47 in 1963 and remains revered as a national treasure of France[2][3].
