Edgar Rice Burroughs
Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American author born in Chicago on September 1, 1875, who achieved fame after years of professional failures by creating iconic characters like Tarzan and John Carter starting in 1912. Best known for his adventure, science fiction, and fantasy works including the Tarzan series and Barsoom novels, he became one of the first authors to incorporate himself and built a vast media empire around his creations. He died on March 19, 1950, in Encino, California.
