Edgar J Goodspeed

Edgar Johnson Goodspeed (October 23, 1871 – January 13, 1962) was an American theologian and biblical scholar specializing in Greek and the New Testament, and a distinguished professor at the University of Chicago until his retirement. He enriched the university's collection of New Testament manuscripts through his research, which was later named in his honor, and contributed to the Revised Standard Version of the Bible. Goodspeed also wrote numerous scholarly and popular works, including his autobiography As I Remember, and was known for his efforts to democratize scholarship.
