Earl Emerson
Earl W. Emerson, born July 8, 1948, in Tacoma, Washington, is an American author best known for his Thomas Black private eye mystery series set in Seattle and thrillers featuring fire department backgrounds, drawing from his 32-year career as a firefighter there. He won a Shamus Award in 1985 for Poverty Bay and has been nominated for Edgar Awards, with Black Hearts and Slow Dancing named one of the New York Times' ten best thrillers of the year. Emerson lives in North Bend, Washington, with his wife and their cat.
