Dudley Buck

Dudley Buck (1839–1909) was an American composer, organist, and writer on music, recognized as the first American to gain international acclaim for church music composition, particularly choral works.[1][2][3] He studied in Leipzig and Paris, held prominent church positions in cities like Hartford, Chicago, Boston, and New York, and was a teacher to Charles Ives, while pioneering American organ sonatas and popular pieces like Concert Variations on The Star-Spangled Banner.[2][4][5][7]
