Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer

Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer (née Karola Ruth Siegel), a Holocaust survivor born in Germany, escaped via Kindertransport at age 10, later immigrated to Palestine where she joined the Haganah as a sniper, and moved to the US in 1956 to pursue advanced degrees in sociology and sex counseling from Columbia University. She rose to fame in the 1980s with her radio show Sexually Speaking, which became nationally syndicated, leading to TV shows, over 45 books on sex and sexuality, and a enduring media presence as a frank, nonjudgmental sex therapist. She passed away in 2024 at age 96 after decades of teaching, lecturing, and private practice.
