Douglas J. Besharov
Douglas J. Besharov is a professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, specializing in policy analysis, program evaluation, poverty, welfare, children and families, and performance measurement.[1][2] He served as the first director of the U.S. National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect from 1975 to 1979 and has been a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.[1][5] Besharov, a lawyer with degrees from NYU and Queens College, has authored or edited over 22 books and 250 articles, contributing to major publications like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.[2][5]
